Obbattu

A popular South Indian festive sweet, Obbattu is served on Ugadi in Karnataka. It is also popularly known as Puran Poli in Maharastra. So, impress your guests’ with a delicious Indian sweet recipe!

Ingredients

  • Chana Dal- 500gms
  • Maida -320 gms
  • Jaggery - 350gms
  • Elaichi Powder- 3 gms
  • Aashirvaad Svasti Pure Cow Ghee - 250gms
  • Turmeric - 2gms

Preparation

  • Soak dal for 6 hours and boil till it gets soft.
  • Melt the jaggery in 250 ml water, add elaichi powder and the boiled chana dal, and cook it on a slow flame, till a stiff mixture is attained.
  • Keep aside & let it cool.
  • Now form a dough by mixing maida, turmeric, 50gms Aashirvaad Svasti Ghee & water.
  • Divide the dough into 40 gms balls, stuff it with the chana dal & jaggery mixture.
  • Roll into flat discs & fry it on the tawa using Aashirvaad Svasti Ghee.
  • Serve with Aashirvaad Svasti Ghee.
